The elderly woman was felicitated with a bravery award by police commissioner Alok Mittal at her house on Monday.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Firoz Khan, 30, is a native of Balabhgarh, Faridabad, and lived in the victim’s neighbourhood. He has an MBA degree and was looking for a job.
While Kataria’s son is on a trip to Belgium with his wife, her daughter Pinki was present in the house when the robber struck.
On Sunday morning, Kataria went to make a cup of tea for herself and was shocked to see a masked man holding her granddaughter at knifepoint. Pramila tried to negotiate with the burglar and suddenly grabbed his knife.
Pinki then came to the rescue and they both fought the accused. The neighbours heard their screams and managed to nab Khan.
