67-69% voting in Kheda and Junagadh repoll

The repoll was ordered following complaints of booth capturing during the Lok Sabha polls in the state on April 20.

An estimated 67 and 69 per cent of voters on Thursday exercised their franchise at two booths under Junagadh and Kheda Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat in the repolling with no untoward incident reported.

The repoll was ordered following complaints of booth capturing during the Lok Sabha polls in the state on Monday.

While 67 per cent polling was recorded in Sangodara village of Junagadh Lok Sabha seat, Talala village of Kheda constituency registered 69 per cent turnout, state election office said here today.

"Repolling ended peacefully and no untoward incident was reported", District collectors D Tara and R K Pathak of Kheda and Junagadh districts respectively told PTI over phone.

Repolling in a booth of 993 electorate of Sangodara village of Junagadh Parliamentary constituency from where Union Minister of State for Tourism Bhavnaben Chikalia is contesting as a BJP candidate was ordered following complaint of booth capturing on April 20 when the state went to the polls.

Repolling also held peacefully at one of the booths with 852 electorate exercising their franchise in Talala village of Kheda parliamentary constituency following similar complaints.

Shubhangini Gaekwad of BJP is contesting against Dinsha Patel of Congress here.
