SEVEN BRICK kiln workers died and two others were critically injured when the wall of the kiln collapsed at Lohara village about seven kilometres from Mughalsarai on Thursday. The incident occurred at 12.30 pm on Wednesday when a group of nine children in the age group of 4 to 13 years mostly girls were busy working in the brick kiln when the wall of the kiln came crumbling down on them.

The incident occurred at 12.30 pm on Wednesday when a group of nine children in the age group of 4 to 13 years mostly girls were busy working in the brick kiln when the wall of the kiln came crumbling down on them.
Soon after the incident, senior police and civil officers including Superintendent of Police, Chandauli, RK Chaturvedi rushed to the spot. The injured were admitted in a hospital in Mughalsari whereas the dead were being sent to Banaras Hindu University hospital for post mortem examination.
“A case has been registered against owner of the brick kiln Dina Singh”, inspector Mughalsari Rattan Singh Yadav told Hindustan Times. Though, he refused to give further details, sources said the brick kiln owner has been arrested and is being questioned at the Mughalsarai police station.
Chandauli SP RK Chandauli when contacted confirmed the deaths saying that the dead were the children of the brick kiln workers who were removing sand from a pit inside the kiln when the wall collapsed.
The deceased have been identified as Manish Kumar (4) S/o Satyendra Kumar, Babita Kumari (11), D/o Satyendra Kumar, Ritu Kumari (12), D/o Shiv Bharat, Awanti Kumari (13) D/o Ram Chandra, Dawlat Kumari (9) D/o Jatan, Rita (12) D/o Inder Dev and Suganti Kumari (8) D/o Krishen Raj. They all hail from Gaya district of Bihar. The other two critically injured have been identified as 12 year Mamata D/o Raj Kumar and Ranu Kumari D/o Sunil Kumar of Gaya.
