70 CRPF companies rushed to North East

The CRPF has decided to rush 70 additional companies of forces to the North Eastern Region in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls

The CRPF has decided to rush 70 additional companies of forces to the North Eastern Region in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a press conference in the capital city on Wednesday, CRPF's Director General J K Sinha said the additional companies will be posted in vulnerable areas to tackle the needs of the election and law and order situation.

This additional forces will be in excess of the present 209 companies of CRPF which is already stationed in the region.

For Assam, the CRPF chief said, 15 additional companies will be posted to assist the already 121 companies which has been deployed in all parts of the state.

Sinha said the BSF was going all out to take over the role of managing internal security in the North East very soon for which all preparations were on.

In troubled Manipur, the CRPF DG said five BSF companies have been already replaced by the CRPF for internal security.

The BSF, he said, will go for total computerisation of the force for which Rs 41 crore will be spent, he said.
