70% voters given EPICs

Over 70 pc voters in Udhampur have been issued electors photo identity cards.

Over 70 per cent voters of the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency comprising three districts of Doda, Udhampur and Kathua have been issued with electors photo identity cards (EPICs), official sources said here on Thursday.

Of these, 2,90,883 voters out of 4,38,868 electorate have been provided EPICs in Doda district till March 15 this year, they said.

While 3,83,850 voters of the 4,89,281 electorate in Udhampur district have been issued EPICs, as many as 2,67,197 voters of the 4,13,944 electorate in Kathua district were given the poll identity cards till March 15, they said.

Others who have not been provided with such cards shall exercise their right to franchise on the basis of their names in the voter lists in their respective areas, the sources said.
