725 booths set up for polio immunisation in Kupwara

Over 1.3 lakh infants up to the age of five years would be administered polio vaccine in Kupwara district on January 18, officials said Thursday.

The information was given in a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner of the district while reviewing the arrangements put in place for administering pulse polio immunisation, an official statement said.

The chief medical officer informed the meeting that 725 immunisation booths have been established for which 1259 health workers, 883 ASHAs, 737 Anganwari Workers, 81 NGOs besides 161 supervisors have been deployed, it added.

Advance health teams are being despatched to Machil, Keran, Jumagunas, Budnambal and border areas and the immunization would be continued up to January 20. The necessary training to the staff has been already imparted at various places in the district in this regard, the statement said.
