Although the incident took place late last night it came to light on Sunday morning after seven year old Ajai, the youngest in the family woke up from sleep but panicked after seeing all the members of the family lying unconscious.
Having gone to sleep early last night Ajai was lucky not to have consumed the sweets which were probably laced with some poison, fears twenty-year-old Brijesh, the eldest son who was not in the village when the incident took place. He rushed to the SRN hospital this morning after he came to know about the incident on reaching home.
The sweets had been brought by one Badam Singh of the same village last night in the name of 'prasad', said Brijesh, a class X11 student. The victims were identified as Phulchand (52), wife Suman Devi (48), Rajesh (16), Sushma (14), Pushpa (12), Reshmi (10), Puja (8) and Neelu (6).
A civil aviation training college employee Phulchand's eldest son Brijesh said Badam Singh had also taken a loan of Rs 15,000 from his father and was reluctant to return the same.It is quite possible that he hatched a plan to eliminate the entire family as Phul Chand often used to pressurise him for the money, said his son Brijesh.
Stunned with the incident, many residents of the village rushed to the SRN hospital after the news spread like fire in the area. The station officer Puramufti collected the left over sweets and sent it for chemical analysis.
