A total of 83 persons were killed in rain-related incidents in Madhya Pradesh in the last 15 days, while crops were lost in 44 districts, official sources said.

Heavy rains and hailstorms were reported in several parts of the state in the last 24 hours, they added.
As per an evaluation by the state revenue department, the death toll due to lightning and hailstorms in last fortnight rose to 83, the sources said, adding crops of wheat, pulses, mustard and coriander planted on 2.75 lakh hectares land in 44 out of 48 districts of the state, were lost.
Heavy rains and hailstorms were reported in Gwalior, Chamba and Sagar divisions in the last 24 hours, they added.
Meanwhile, the state government has sought assistance of Rs 1,000 crore from the Centre to deal with the situation.
