A local court sentenced a man to life imprisonment after his nine-year-old daughter stood witness in court to the murder of her mother by him.
One Rashid Ahmed, 40, with three wives, strangulated to death his second wife Sanwara Bibi, 35, on a family dispute in front of his daughter Monwara, 9, at Sonarpur in 2004.
Monwara, eyewitness to the murder, deposed before the fast track court at Baruipur in South 24-Parganas district and the man was sentenced to life imprisonment by judge Ravindranath Samanta.
