FIRs have been lodged against the allottees of the outlets and police have been directed to arrest them. The raid has created panic among the outlet owners and the grain mafia.
There were numerous complaints regarding sale in the open market of food grain allotted under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) scheme to PDS outlets in the district. Following the complaints registered by the elected people’s representatives, the government constituted a probe committee and a team of officials were directed to conduct raids in Gorakhpur. The team conducted a raid on an outlet at Shatrughanpur village, under Chauri Chaura police station and found 35-quintal sugar and 11-quintal rice missing. An FIR was lodged against one Raju. The team also conducted a raid on Baijnathpur village, under Chiluatal police station, and found that grain allotted under BPL scheme were not available at the outlets and it was not distributed among the people. An FIR was lodged against the owner of the outlet Ram Nagina.
The team also raided Kauriram, Gagha and Bansgaon.
Bus stands soon
Bahraich: Uttar Pradesh Health System Development Programme (UPHSDP) director and senior IAS officer Shailesh Krishna said bus stops for private buses and taxies would be constructed in all model districts. Krishna said though permits for transporting passengers were issued to private bus owners, but no bus stop was constructed in any district of the state, including Lucknow.
In such circumstances, the vehicles were parked on the roadside.
