Living in a teeny-weeny studio apartment may not really be your style, but if a new city and a new job land you in one, there is no reason to despair.
In fact, matchbox living can be a haven of privacy and comfort. Hence why not make the most of it as long as it lasts? So if it looks like a challenge to start with, make use of all your creativity to win it.
The mantra of compact living is simple, as experts would say:
a. Toss out the clutter
b. Forget the drawing room-living room-bed room-dining room-store room-divide. Fast.
c. Do everything to create an illusion of space.
Remember- your apartment is now just a living space for you to relax and work. If you must have guests, they better be accommodating. Once your place is chosen, half your job is done. Sit down now; take a deep breath and think.
Chalk it out. How do you intend to divide the space between your activities and belongings? What are your pastimes? Do you read a lot? Play an instrument? Paint? Write? Are you a fitness-freak? Or are you surgically attached to your computer? Prioritise. Now split the space.
