I have eight days to visit places in and around Darjeeling. I’m staying there for three days. Please suggest how long I should stay in Gangtok? What other places could I visit there?
You can plan your vacation according to the following route:
Day 1: Travel from Siliguri to Darjeeling by toy train, or by taxi via Kurseong or Mirik.
Day 2: Drive to Tiger Hill at 4 am to see the sunrise. Return back via Batasia Loop and Ghoom monastery. After lunch, head to the Mountaineering Institute, PN
Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Happy Valley Tea Estate, Tibetan Refugee Centre (Sunday closed), Ava Art Gallery and Japanese temple.
Day 3: Take a trip to the Rock Garden and Ganga Maiya Lake. Post lunch, visit the Observatory Hill.
Day 4: From Darjeeling, go to Gangtok via Kalim-pong and visit Mangal Dham, Delo Hill and Durpin Dara.
Day 5: Drive to Tsomgo lake, Baba Harbhaan Singh Memorial and Nathula.
Day 6: Visit local sightseeing locations like Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok, Tashi View Point, Rumtek Monastery and Botanical Garden.
Day 7-9: Drive to Yumthang Valley. Opt for a package tour of two nights and three days.
Day 10: Head back to Siliguri.
