Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhey Chautala on Wednesday lambasted the Haryana government for acute shortage of power in the state.
Addressing a party rally at Barwala, he said: "For the past eight years the people of Haryana are facing power problem. The industry, agriculture and general business has suffered due to long and unscheduled power cuts. The power tariff has tripled since the Congress government took over. The government is boasting of three new power generation plants but those plants have proved liabilities to the state government."
Chautala said: "The state government has failed to meet the demand of farmers for irrigation water and that has resulted in less production of wheat to the tune of 30 lakh tonne. The Congress leaders are busy in amassing wealth."
INLD state president Ashok Arora, senior party leader Ram Pal Majra and district president Umed Singh Lohan also addressed the rally.
