At a meeting of the association held recently, the members also expressed their concern over posts lying vacant in the hospitals.

PMSA secretary Dr Vipul Singh said that at present about 2864 posts of various official of the State Health department were lying vacant which included 1500 posts of joint directors, 900 posts of senior doctors, 52 of additional directors, 57 of the chief medical officers, 350 of deputy chief medical officers, four of additional directors and one post of director.

Dr Singh said the association had proposed to submit a memorandum in connection with their demands to the chief minister through the district magistrate on June 10 asking him to review the decisions of the government.

Association members alleged that despite the availability of qualified candidates, the posts were not filled.

Many of the doctors who were promoted to higher scale were not given new charge of the higher scale post.

About 400 promoted officials of the department were to retire this year without being given the charge of higher scale posts in the department, Dr Singh said.

Besides, the government doctors were also agitated over the government order which empowered the gram pradhans, gram vikas adhikari , block head or the block development officer to countersign the inspection report of the chief medical officer and the deputy chief medical officer .
