"Work on the AC waiting hall is on in full swing and once it becomes operational, passengers waiting to catch a bus will no longer have to bear hot winds and scorching sun," said PR Belwariar, regional manager of the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).
He said that the waiting hall would have toilets, a seating space, as well a tea and coffee shop for the convenience of the passengers.
"The work on the hall began around six months back after the State Government picked up Allahabad for the project to construct a modern air-conditioned waiting hall at a bus stand following the success of one at Lucknow," he added.Belwariar said the waiting hall was being constructed with a cost of Rs 3.98 lakh under the supervision of an engineer of the department. However, the access to the AC waiting hall would be given only to the AC ticket-holders. This would be an additional service to the AC passengers who waited in the ordinary lounge. He said that that the additional service would tempt the passengers to switch over to the AC service from the non-AC service.
