The CPI-M state committee, which met on Monday, endorsed the proposal made in this regard by the party Politburo and state secretariat, a party statement said.

The nomination of Achuthanandan to the Chief Minister's post was unanimous, it said.

The state committee also approved the names of party nominees to be included in the ministry.

CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat, Politburo members Sitaram Yechuri and S Ramachandran Pillai attended the state committee meeting.

The party had on Sunday night cleared the name of Achuthandan to the chief ministership and drew up the list of ministerial nominees.

The party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and Achuthanadan were among those attended the secretariat and state committee meetings, it said.
