However, college manager Prof Piyush Ranjan Agarwal has given Dr SK Agarwal two days time to rethink his decision.

The development comes in the wake of a non-teaching employees’ agitation.

They are demanding action against one of their colleagues who reportedly recently misbehaved with a senior employee following a minor altercation.

Dr Agarwal cited medical grounds for his wish to step down from the post of the principal. Insiders said it was pressure being exerted on him by agitating employees that forced him to tender his resignation from the post.

When contacted, Prof Piyush Ranjan Agarwal confirmed Dr Santosh Agarwal had indeed submitted his resignation letter to the college management on Tuesday morning.

“However, the resignation has not been accepted and we have requested him to reconsider the decision during the next two days.”

The strike being observed by the non-teaching employees of the college for the last 10 days has been causing a lot of problems. Dr Santosh Kumar Agarwal has drawn criticism from some quarters for his failure to resolve the issue and restore proper functioning of the college.

The ongoing strike of the employees has delayed the admission process.

Students have held demonstrations, demanding immediate start to the admission process. Dr Santosh Kumar has been targeted by employees on different issues since the time he took over as the ADC principal.
