While taking stock of departmental preparations for the election with his sub-ordinates in his office here on Thursday afternoon, the IG ordered for deployment of additional SPs, circle officers and sub-inspectors in a large number and 200 constables from districts of Sonebhadra, Chandauli, Azamgarh on the polling day.

While taking stock of departmental preparations for the election with his sub-ordinates in his office here on Thursday afternoon, the IG ordered for deployment of additional SPs, circle officers and sub-inspectors in a large number and 200 constables from districts of Sonebhadra, Chandauli, Azamgarh and Ballia to Varanasi on the polling day.
During the meeting, the IG held discussions with SP (Rural), Lalit Kumar Singh and circle officer for election cell at Police Lines, Kamlesh, over the security arrangement on October 31 when lakhs of voters are expected to turn up at polling centers across the city to elect the mayor and corporators.
The IG also reviewed submission of licensed firearms of citizens at police stations during election. He gave necessary instructions to senior cops to maintain law and order in the city.
The IG also held a meeting with the additional superintendent of police of the sensitive Gyanwapi complex and directed him to equip the jawans of PAC deployed in the yellow zone of complex with sophisticated light firearms - AK 47 and Carbines, instead of heavy rifles.
