However, the district administration is now seriously planning to redress this problem.

Well aware that routes including Lanka-Bhelupur, Lanka-Gaudaulia, Benaibagh-Lahuraveer, Andharapul-Kachchehri, Chaukaghat-Pandeypur had been witness to worst traffic jams, Senior Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Pandey along with the administration’s help launched a drive to redress the traffic problem.

The city police introduced patrolling of a mobile traffic van, consisting of five cops of the traffic police. These cops were informing the public about traffic rules through loudspeakers.

The van was introduced after a meeting of the SSP with the office-bearers of the transport unions. The SSP said the traffic police would also motivate the public to follow traffic rules for a smooth transportation on the city roads.

In the meeting, the SSP had been made aware of major traffic jam points of the city such as Lohatia, Maidagin, Gurubagh, Dashwaswamedh, Rathyatra and Cantt. He instructed cops to heed to any prompt removal of traffic jam on these points.
