Police intercepted Ramdev’s car at Muzaffarnagar’s border with Roorkee, Uttarakhand, around 7.30pm and sent him back to Haridwar. A police source said Ramdev was willing to restart his movement in Noida.
The UP government said it would not allow Ramdev to hold his stir in the state.
At a press meet in Haridwar later, Ramdev said the SSP of Muzaffarnagar told him his entry to the state had been restricted. “It seems officials took the decision at their own level and the matter was not brought to the notice of chief minister Mayawati. I will speak to the CM to raise the issue,” he said.
