Women folk dancers dancing atop a train were till date limited to the Bollywood screen, but Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav brought the magic of Shahrukh Khan and Malaika Arora live in Bihar, by making folk dancers dance and croon atop a moving train.
While Lalu was sitting in his special compartment, women dancers attired in colourful sarees swayed on the folk tunes atop his train.
Hundreds of people thronged alongside the rail track and ran along with the slow moving train.
"Lalu can do magic," said Gajen, who was mesmerised to see such a scene in his real life. The villagers said they had never seen any such performance even in films.
"No we have not seen 'Dil Se'-A Hindi film where Shahrukh Khan sang Chaiya Chaiya atop a moving train," said Pramod.
Some of them, who had seen the film song, found this more entertaining.
"Ladies are singing our folk songs, it is more enjoying," said Umakanth, adding, “Wahan toh parda main dekhe the, yahan toh aankhaon ke saamne ho raha hain (There we saw it on screen, here we are seeing this happen in front of our eyes)."
On being asked how he manages to 'weave magic', Lalu in his characteristic style said, “Jadootoh ho gaya hain, ab tona baki hain (Magic has been done, now spell has to be cast)”.
He also said that villagers need to be entertained.
“They need a dose of entertainment too”, said Lalu, who has become the most entertaining politician of the time.
As the train crawled ahead, women folk dancers, who had never done such thing in their lifetime, said that it was also entertaining for them.
“It was a little difficult to dance on a moving train, but it was a wonderful experience”, said Sheila, a member of the dance troupe.
