The accused has been sent in judicial custody for 14 days.

The accused was produced in the court following the issuance of the showcause notice by the CJM to the jail superintendent and doctor on March 31 for not producing the accused, Afzal, MLA Mukhtar Ansari and their brother-in-law Ejaz Ansari. The CJM had also directed the superintendent and doctor of Ghazipur jail to be personally present in the Court here on Tuesday to explain the reason for not producing the accused before the court for hearing.
Superintendent of jail and doctor appeared before the court and explained that accused, Afzal, had gone to Delhi for treatment on the advice of medical board, so he could not be produced on March 31.
Court has already fixed a date of April 18 for hearing over police remand of Mukhtar Ansari. Hearing over police remand of Afzal and Ejaz would be also held on the same day.
Meanwhile, the court, conducting a hearing over the murder of Vinod Singh, brother-in-law of newly-elected block pramukh of Karanda block recently in Ghazipur, had ordered for attachment of property of three absconding accused — Devendra Singh, Bheem Singh and Bantu under Section 82. Armed miscreants had attacked the car of block pramukh, Sushila Singh recently, and killed her brother-in-law. Supporters of block pramukh and police killed two of the assailants soon after the incident.
