Police registered cases against an AIADMK MLA and 20 other party men for alleged violation of election code.
Police on Friday registered cases against an AIADMK MLA and 20 other party men for alleged violation of election code by taking out a motorcycle rally without permission to seek votes for party candidate in Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency.
The AIADMK workers, led by the MLA, Pollachi Jayaraman, took out a procession on 70 motorcycles to cover rural areas in two days, police charged.
Though village and police officials reportedly attempted to stop the procession, the party workers did not heed and carried on with the campaign, they said.
Based on the complaint lodged by a Village Administrative Officer, Pollachi Police registered cases against Jayaraman and others for taking out the procession thereby violating election rules, police said.
