An AIDS patient allegedly commited suicide by hanging himself to death in the Hatkeshwar area of the city, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place Saturday evening when one Ghanshyamsinh Zala (35) hanged himself using a rope while he was alone in his house in Shivramnagar in Hatkeshwar area, they said.

According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that Zala was an AIDS patient and because of the disease he took this extreme step.

A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation in the matter was on, they added.
