ALL-INDIA Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT) has decided to popularise Agriculture and Marketing Information network for the benefit of farmers in the State.
According to a release in Bhopal, AISECT will organise Kisan Suchna Melas in 80 mandis along with a Mobile Yatra to visit 20 additional mandis across the State to generate awareness about the use of Agmarknet and for demonstrating the portal.
Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), Government of India would be the co-organiser for the campaign. DMI has designed this portal to help farmers by getting an access to market prices of various crops and produce and to choose to sell their crops at the best possible prices. The objective of the Yatra would be to generate awareness about the portal.
The campaign would be started on March 21 and would be conducted in three phases involving door-to-door campaign along with pamphlet distribution and contact programmes with farmers. An information centre for continued support to the farmers would be set-up by AISECT at each mandi in the final phase of the campaign.
Formation of a local organisation committee involving Mandi Secretary, Information Officer, extension agencies and AISECT representatives, to conduct the Yatra is underway. The Yatra would conclude on March 30 with a Kisan Suchna Mela at Bhopal.
