"The yatra is intended to foment communal tension and jeopardise national integration," AISF leader Jyoti Ranjan Mohapatra said addressing a gathering of about 500 AISF activists at Sharadhabali.

Police arrested two AISF activists who were getting ready to show black flags to Singh's cavalcade near the Hospital square of the town.

Puri Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Panda said: "police have detained two supporters of AISF as they were ready to wave black flags at the BJP president. They were released after Singh's vehicle left."
