Akhilesh Yadav files nomination papers

Akhilesh Yadav, the son of former UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, filed his nomination paper from Kannauj on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Uttar Pradesh will go for polls in the fourth phase of election on May 7.

Akhilesh Yadav, the son of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, was among the 12 candidates who filed their nomination papers for 18 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh that go to the polls in the fourth phase of election on May 7.

Chief Electoral Officer Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said Yadav, a Samajwadi Party candidate, filed his papers from Kannauj.

The last date of filing of nominations is April 18, he said and added that scrutiny would be undertaken on April 20 and last date for withdrawal of names is April 22.

Bishnoi said that as many as 53 nomination papers have been rejected for polling in the third phase on 15 seats.

Reports from two constituencies of Akbarpur and Hamirpur were awaited, he said adding that 342 nomination papers have been filed for the third phase.
