The incident was reported on Friday night around 9 pm when the victim de-boarded a tempo at Vikram colony. She told the police that four to five bikers began molesting her and also tried to kidnap her and tore her clothes when she resisted. The woman was rescued by few passersby, who also chased the bikers. Except for one -- identified as Rakesh Singh – all the others managed to escape.

Instead of registering an FIR on the basis of the written complaint submitted by the victim, police lodged a non-cognisable report in the case and let the accused free. It is pertinent for the police to lodge an FIR under IPC Section 354 in molestation cases.

The victim has also accused the police of passing on her phone number to the offenders. She said that the accused have threatened to throw acid on her if she did not withdraw the complaint.

The victim also tried to meet SSP Nitin Tiwari on Saturday. Tiwari, however, denied having received any such complaint.
