Heated arguments also ensued between polling officials and those deployed by the district administration for making arrangements at the Polytechnic. Polling officials could get the required number of ballot papers only after senior officials of the district administration intervened.
Lack of coordination was apparent between the officials, as many of the vehicles left for poling booths without the polling parties. Later, these vehicles came back to pick up the left behind parties.
Similarly, the sector magistrate in-charge of vehicle number 277 could not be traced for a long time, while the vehicle number 373 left for polling booth leaving behind more than half of the polling officials.
Presiding officer Umesh Chand, in-charge of vehicle number 1126, was untraceable till the last minute, as a result another officer was deputed with the vehicle.
However, about 1689 polling parties left for their respective booths. Many of them faced difficulties at their booths due to inadequate facilities. Those deployed in Muslim dominated areas complained of un-hygienic conditions around the booths.
At Shyam Nagar, residents of Raksha Vihar Colony refused to allow a polling booth, while at another booth venue, the Spinning Mill employees did not open lock of the main gate. Later, ADM Abrar Ahmad intervened and managed to create polling booths at these places.
