Aman lives his fantasy
Over-expoAman lives his fantasysure only harms an actor, says actor Aman Varma, on why he has cut down on assignments.
Aman Yatan Varma says being an actor has allowed him to indulge in his childhood fantasy. Of talking non-stop (he grew up talking to himself before the mirror) and getting paid handsomely for it.

Aman, who switched channels from Star to Sony about six months ago, did his first negative role as Vaasu in Devi. He is now on the streets, literally, with actress and one-time veejay Mini Mathur, cheering as the Indian Idol audition begins in Delhi.
“It’s great being on the road, meeting people who have real talent — and some who don’t, but the determination to be heard,” he says.
He is surprisingly modest about his professional achievements. So, even if he is cool with posing for shutterbugs, he won’t bore you with details about what he’s doing. “I’m not here to talk about Aman Verma the actor,” he says.
But don’t sweat, Aman isn’t hanging up his acting gloves. “I am going to do roles that satisfy me as an actor. Doing grey roles is interesting, you get the better lines and it’s more fun anyway.”
Which explains his current stint in Kumkum, where he is doing an interesting negative role.
For someone who was the most visible face on television over all of last year, and had as many as four lead shows on air, cutting down on his workload hasn’t been deliberate.
“Sometimes the track gets over, as in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or Kehta Hai Dil. At other times, the show gets over, like Khullja Sim Sim. Over-exposure can only harm an actor,” he says. Famous last words, those.

Aman started off with Pachpan Khambe Lal Deewarein on DD about a decade ago.
The role that made him a star was in Ghar Ek Mandir but it wasn’t until Kyunki Saas... that he became a superstar.
Aman, who has been linked with Ekta Kapoor, denies the rumour. He is tight-lipped about his personal life.
