Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will flag off the inaugural run of the much-deferred bus service between Amritsar and Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on March 24.

This was stated in New Delhi by Prime Minister's Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru.

The first bus from Nankana Sahib is scheduled to roll down on March 28.

The two countries had decided in January to run the bus service keeping in view the sentiments of people of Punjab who have been seeking a direct transport link to Nankana Sahib.

A trial run of the service was conducted on January 27-28 and it was decided that it will start on March 10.

Pakistan later, however, conveyed to India that its preparations for the service have not been completed.

The inaugural run from Amritsar should be postponed to March 24.
