Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus stopped by mob

A group of people forcibly stopped the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus for about an hour while it was heading towards the Wagah border.

Annoyed with the sad condition of roads in their locality, a group of people on Wednesday forcibly stopped the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus for about an hour while it was heading towards the Wagah border to crossover to Pakistan.

Informed by the escort and pilot vehicles of the bus about the incident, police arrived immediately and used mild cane-charge to disperse the protesters, who were demanding renovation of roads in Batala Road area of the city.

Thereafter, the bus resumed its journey towards Wagah border amidst tight security.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during his visit to the city on March 24 this year had flagged off the regular bus service from Amritsar to Nankana Sahib with much fanfare.

Nankana Sahib is the birthplace of first Sikh Guru Nanakdev in Pakistan.
