In a span of 20 years Javed had made several foes. Sources said Javed survived so long because he never came out of Gammu Khan-ka-Hata and was flourishing in his narcotics business there.

There were over 30 heinous cases against Javed and yet he was roaming freely. He was closely linked to a Samajwadi Party MLA from Arya Nagar, besides being an office-bearer of the party. Javed wanted to shake hands with his archrival Sohail. In an incident of bombing by Sohail and his accomplices about one a half months back, Javed had played a pivotal role.

Sources in the intelligence department said Javed was known to have launched several youths in their early twenties into the crime world. He nurtured Saeed Nata, a boy from Kanpur Dehat and made him a synonym of terror in the city.

Though after some time Javed and Saeed parted their ways and became rivals and wanted to eliminate each other. Sources said the real rivalry was over establishing monopoly in the vyapar mandal in the city. Javed wanted to make his man Raees the secretary. For this it became imperative for him to shake hands with Sohail, as he is the general secretary of the vyapar mandal. But Sohail and Saeed Nata were good associates and the latter never wanted induction of Javed into his group, which enjoyed monopoly over the vyapar mandal of Beconganj area.

Parvez’s involvement is considered as the main reason behind the elimination of Javed. Nearly one and a half months back, some accomplices of Parvez had opened fire on Javed. Since then, Javed was living in fear and he had even sought police security as he was afraid of being killed by Parvez’s men. He had also reportedly sent applications to higher courts in the country in this regard.

Sources in the police department said that in the killing of Javed at least three attackers were of Parvez gang.

A member of the Special Operation Group said that immediately after the news of Javed’s murder spread in the city, Saeed Nata was one of the first persons who came to see the body. Meanwhile, police have discovered that the miscreants who had killed Hariom Sonkar and Anil Gupta at La Touche Road on Friday had taken shelter at Javed’s place in the night.
