Anandji to receive Kavi Pradeep Samman

THE KAVI Pradeep Shikhar Samman will be conferred on well-known musician Anandji this year. The award was instituted by the Malwa Rang Manch six years ago in the memory of poet Pradeep who hailed from Barnagar in Ujjain district. Poet Pradeep had written several patriotic songs including the epochal ?a mere vatan ke logon?.

Event convener Keshav Rai said the award ceremony would be held on February 6, 2007, the birth anniversary of the legendry poet. The award includes citation and cash prize of Rs 50,000.

Playback singers Usha Mangeshkar and Mahendra Kapoor, actor Manoj Kumar, musicians Ravindra Jain and Ravi have so far received the award. The famous pair of Kalyanji –Anandji composed music for over 250 films, of which many proved to be hugely successful.
