Andhra CM compares Maran with Rajiv Gandhi

The Chief Minister was speaking after unveiling the foundation stone for the prestigious $3 billion Fab City.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy on Wednesday showered encomiums on Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran, comparing him with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for his vision of taking the benefits of new technologies to the common man.

"Maran's youthful looks, dynamism and sound technical knowledge make me compare him with our beloved leader Rajiv Gandhi. His vision to make India a major hub for high-tech industry is similar to the one envisioned by Rajiv Gandhi to take the country into the 21st Century with technology," Reddy said.

The Chief Minister was speaking after unveiling the foundation stone for the prestigious $3 billion Fab City project in Hyderadad.

Reddy described Maran as the Father of India's Semiconductor industry and welcomed the Union Minister's announcement that the Centre would soon come up with a special package of incentives to promote and sustain the high-tech industry.
