Tanks of Andhra Pradesh
Tanks are a common in Rayalseema and Telengana regions of Andhra Pradesh. These tanks form the most important irrigation source in the area. Though the region is dotted by 50,000 tanks, many of them have fallen in disrepair and misuse and efforts are on to restore them.

Famous tanks like Hussainsagar built in 1562 AD provided drinking water to Hyderabad though later rise in population has seen other tanks like Himayatsagar and Osamansagar also provide water to the city.
