Andhra students set largest barefoot walk record

Over 1,900 students in Andhra Pradesh today claimed to have walked with no shoes on for a kilometre to set a new world record for the largest barefoot walk.

As many as 1,950 students of Palamuru University in Mahabubnagar town, about 100 km from Hyderabad, walked one km in the university campus.

The organisers recorded the event with five cameras and sent their claim to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The students claimed to have broken the record set in September by residents of Chengdu in Sichuan province of China. The record was set by 1,141 people.
