Angry tribals picket police station

Hundreds of tribals today staged a gherao of the Sirali police station of Harda district near here for two and half hour in protest against the alleged thrashing of a tribal youth by of Dabia village by a home guard jawan and a havildar.

Hundreds of tribals today staged a gherao of the Sirali police station of Harda district near here for two and half hour in protest against the alleged thrashing of a tribal youth by of Dabia village by a home guard jawan and a havildar.

The protestors were led Samajwadi Jan Parishad and Shramik Adivasi Sangathan. The gherao was lifted only after the administration announced suspension of the home guard jawan and line-attachment of the havildar.

Earlier the tribals took out a rally from Rani Mohalla which converged into a public rally at Gandhi Chowk after passing through the bus stand. The tribals organisations’ activists addressed them protestors. Because of the police station’s gherao, the Sirali main road remained blocked. Senior civil and police officers reached the spot to keep and eye on the situation.
