This was apprised by Divisional Commissioner Dr Lalit Verma to district magistrate, vice-chairman of Allahabad Development Authority and municipal commissioner in a meeting held at his camp office here on Tuesday. Verma asked these officials to widen, clean and make the roads free of encroachments so that the traffic flow could become smooth in the city area. Besides, small roadside shops based on the New Delhi model, could be constructed to provide employment by selling daily use articles.

He pointed out that condition of Leader Road, Nurullah Road, railway station and Kareli was not good so these roads should be undertaken on a war footing level. He asked the officials to ensure carrying out construction of Nawab Yusuf Road followed by full of lights and encroached free road.

Rs 70 lakh had been allocated for the same road while Rs 21 lakh for the Leader road, said the divisional commissioner.

The city’s two famous crematoriums Shankarghat and Daraganj Ghat were given Rs 20 lakh so that they could be renovated, said Verma. Rs 20 lakh was being released for upgrading of the Nagar Nigam house.

Importantly, Rs 8 lakh was given for lighting arrangements at St Cathederal Church in Civil Lines. Another beautification work would be carried out at Nagavasuki Temple, Sankat Mochan Mandir in Daraganj, said the commissioner.
