Suman (28), a resident of Samalkha in Panipat district, consumed some poisonous substance outside DGP R.S. Dalal's office at 11 am.

She allegedly took the extreme step to protest against the alleged involvement of top police officials of the district in the murder of her brother Nitish Chhokar, a Panjab University law student, whose body was found four days ago.

Local police rushed her to General Hospital, Sector 6. Doctors said she was out of danger. Though police denied any such incident took place, sources said Suman consumed poison in frustration and anguish after she was told that the DGP was on leave.
