Anti-quota stir gains momentum

THE ANTI-RESERVATION students of Allahabad University (AU) decided to take out a rally on May 11 against the 27 per cent proposed reservation for OBCs in higher education. The decision was taken by the members of Arakshan Virodhi Chatra Sangarsh Morcha (AVCSM) in a meeting presided over by AVCSM president Abhishek Shukla at the AUU hall on Wednesday.

THE ANTI-RESERVATION students of Allahabad University (AU) decided to take out a rally on May 11 against the 27 per cent proposed reservation for OBCs in higher education. The decision was taken by the members of Arakshan Virodhi Chatra Sangarsh Morcha (AVCSM) in a meeting presided over by AVCSM president Abhishek Shukla at the AUU hall on Wednesday.

Addressing the members, Shukla said that the students were resentful at the proposal and would not accept reservation on any condition. He said that a rally had been called on the AU campus on May 11 and it would be supported by students in large numbers.

Highlighting the results of reservation, he said that reservation would restrain talent. He advocated reservation based on economic status.

Pradeep Narayan Dwivedi and Sunil Dwivedi opposed also reservation in higher education.

The leaders decided to carry out contact programmes in hostels and delegacies and explain to the students about the adverse effects of reservation. The leaders urged the students to support the rally on May 11.

Those present in the meeting were Vikas Tripathi, Umesh Upadhyay, Irshad Ullah, Anoop Singh, Preeti Tripathi, Anand Singh, Sanjeet Pandey, Rajesh Dwivedi, Ashutosh Shukla, Vishal Singh, Abhinash Rai and Chandra Prakash Kesarwani among others.
