The team had won two gold and a silver in the three previous legs of the World Cup and this was their worst showing in qualifiers. However, it has come as a blessing as finishing third means they would meet the formidable Koreans only in the final. In the first elimination round of the team championship, India face Ukraine, who finished 14th. Korea (4044) and France (3953) occupy the top two spots.

With a personal score of 1324, Talukdar, who is all set to qualify for the four-man World Cup finals at Copenhagen in Denmark on September 26, was 10th in the individual section. Banerjee (1313) was 18th and Champia (1304) was placed 24th. Korea's Oh Jin Hyek topped the individual qualifiers with 1366 points and compatriot Lee Chang Hwan was second with 1351.
