The condition of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has seen a "noticeable improvement" following which he has been shifted out of the ICU, hospital officials said on Tuesday.

There was "noticeable improvement in his kidney function and the pneumonia in his lungs," Sheba Medical Center spokesman David Weinberg said.
His condition was still listed as serious and he has been kept in the respiratory rehabilitation department, David said.
Sharon went in a state of coma following a massive brain stroke in January four this year.
