Army and civilians celebrate Naushera Day

'Naushera Day', which marks the defence of Naushera in the 1947-48 war with Pakistan and the martyrdom of Naik Yadunath Singh and others, was today celebrated with grand splendour in the district.

'Naushera Day', which marks the defence of Naushera in the 1947-48 war with Pakistan and the martyrdom of Naik Yadunath Singh and others, was today celebrated with grand splendour in the district.

The celebrations started on a note of respect to martyrs with a wreath laying ceremony held at Jadunath Park in Naushera by General Officer Commanding, 'Ace of Spades' division, commander Naushera Brigade and commanding officers of various units this morning.

Awards were also presented to armymen who had distinguished themselves in their professional capacities.

Quiz and painting competitions were also held for children.

The stoic and brave defence of Naushera was the turning point of entire war in Jammu and Kashmir during the war.
