Army troops recover 10 kg IED from Doda

Explosive devices possibly meant for use at the Independence Day were recovered by the Army on Saturday.

Army troops recovered 10 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from Doda district during a routine sanitisation operation since Friday.

Three terrorist hideouts have been busted till Saturday morning, official sources said.

Troops recovered a jerry can containing IED from Beinjla Nallah in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district on Friday night. They said that it was to be used by terrorists to trigger blasts on or before the Independence Day.

Troops busted a hideout in Gachanar area in Udhampur district and recovered three hand grenades, 25 rounds of SLR ammunition, two AK magazines, 176 rounds of AK ammunition and 15 rounds of 303 rifle from there.

Another hideout was busted by the troops in Basantgarh area also of Udhampur district and an IED, two binoculars, 25 pencil cells, two polythene sheets, seven containers (15 litre capacity), one box with wire and some ration items were recovered.

Seven grenades, one IED, 13 detonators, 120 rounds and some eatables were recovered from another hideout in Kharian area of Poonch on Saturday morning by the troops.
