Following a heated exchange over accommodation in the force's camp here, an army jawan on Saturday shot dead four of colleagues including a Junior Commissioned officer, injured another and later turned the gun on himself.

Naik Satinder Singh had heated arguments with Naik Hansraj and two others at brigade headquarters at Miran Sahib, 9 kms from here around 2150 hours over some accommodation problem after which he took out his rifle and shot all three in the room dead, Miran Sahib Brigade commander Brig Manjeet Singh said.

He said around the same time JCO Subedar Major Goor Singh of 22 RR entered the room and tried to control Naik Satinder Singh but Satinder shot him dead too.

Lance Naik Anand Singh and Omi Singh were identified among those killed in the firing.

Naik Sanjay Singh was shifted to hospital.

A convoy of army jawans had come from Kargil on temporary duty to the Jammu army camp on Friday.

A court of inquiry has been ordered by army authorities to ascertain the reasons behind the incident, he said.
