Rajat Bagchi of the Indian High Commission was part of an event in Leicester last week to honour 14 volunteers for their work in the Asian community.

They were presented the Leicester Year of the Volunteer Community Awards.
The ceremony was held at the Muslim Khatri Association, where Bagchi also opened a new lift.
Suleman Nagdi and Abdul Karim Gheewalla were commended for their work with the Federation of Muslim Organisations.
Jaffer Kapasi was rewarded for his work with Asra Midlands Housing Association and Yakub Dassu was recognized for his work with Leicester Asian Business Association.
Awards were also given to Yusuf Saleh, a world kickboxing champion, Harrish Mondwalia for his work with the Shree Wanza community, and Rafik Dawood Pate, from Harvey Ingram solicitors, for the guidance he has offered to community groups.
The awards were presented to the winners by Leicester's Lord Mayor, Councillor Mary Draycott.
