"The allegations are not only absurd but are malicious and politically motivated to misguide the people of the state. I will soon file a defamation case against him," the chief minister said in a statement in Guwahati.

"My daughter and son-in-law have a house in the US but other than that none of my relatives or wife has any house of property there," he said.

"If it can be proved that either any of my immediate family members or any other relative has a house in the US, then I shall make a will gifting all those properties to Akhil Gogoi," he said.

He warned the activist to refrain from making any false and baseless allegations.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi had made allegations on Saturday that the chief minister had acquired five houses in the US.
