FROM CLASSROOM to ramp, the debutante's endeavour heralded a new awakening towards fashion in the city. Sans the hype that usually is associated with a fashion show, this one, organised by the students of Centre of Fashion Design and Technology served something meaningful for the audience.

With the interesting theme of 'Bollywood in our lives', the show managed to withstood its rightful stand on being a unique attempt among several others to be unveiled in future.
Entirely an in-house show, students had done everything from management to modelling and designing and construction of garments and accessories.
Altogether eleven line of garments were presented before the audience by 31 models. The designs were basically inspired by the outfits and styles of the actors of Bollywood right from the era of the black and white movies to the latest flicks from the Tinsel Town.
The show started with the screening of a short documentary film on how the mannerisms and style of actors subtly penetrated the lives of common people.
The round opened with the 'jeans' collection in which low-waist jeans were displayed which has become the fashion statement for Gen-next. Creativity was displayed in the 'fusion round' in which Salwar-suits displayed had the beautiful blend of East and West.
The ramp sizzled with the dazzling colours and embroidery on lehengas in the 'Dulhan' round. The models managed to spread the hues of joy of being a bride. Innovative experiments were done with colours while keeping red as the base.
Another round took the audience by surprise as it was quite in contrast to the 'dulhan' round. 'Hariyali aur rasta' was designers' dream to experiment with the white colour. The accessories were made with fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Skirts and tops adorned by Bollywood queens were displayed in 'rangeela'. Vamps who conveyed a new identity to sensuality with their cocktail dresses inspired the 'saaki' round. Traditional lehengas in different avatars were displayed in 'Karavan'. Gowns for the season were offered as an option for those in search of exclusivity in the round 'Ye shaam mastani'.
Other rounds were 'Utsav' in which heavily embroidered salwar-suits were displayed, 'Azooba' through which the final year students portrayed their creativity and the beginning of a new revolution in fashion was displayed in 'Fun' round.
