AU launches health scheme for staff

ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY has launched a major health scheme for the staff and faculty of the university and its constituent colleges. The scheme that came into effect from September 1, will be run on trial basis till March 31, 2007.

ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY has launched a major health scheme for the staff and faculty of the university and its constituent colleges. The scheme that came into effect from September 1, will be run on trial basis till March 31, 2007.

Under the scheme, major government and a number of private sector hospitals, have been roped in for providing emergency and other health care facilities to the teachers and staff.

Every month the staff and teachers will have to pay Rs 15 to 150 to avail of these services. A decision to this effect was taken at the varsity’s health committee meeting held on Thursday.

The university and constituent college teachers and staff can also avail of
health services at AIIMS and Apollo.

The varsity will also enter into agreement with renowned pathology centres for providing pathology testing facility to the staff. A panel of 50 doctors will be formed for implementing the scheme. A health diary will also be maintained by the university administration.

The meeting was attended by the registrar, finance officer and principal of MLN Medical College.

On being contacted, the AU finance officer said that services of some local and outside hospitals would be taken to provide medicare and the staff would ill be charged a nominal amount for this.
